Last Thursday saw the National Final of the Thomas Cranmer Competition which, in its thirtieth year, was held at the prestigious Lambeth Palace. Following her victory in the local competition, Jemima Shepherd represented the Isle of Man in the Senior category which meant facing the daunting challenge of memorising her chosen passage for delivery in front of a select audience and a discerning panel of judges.
Despite a very tough competition, Jemima delivered her chosen passage with poise to provide a mesmerising performance which resulted in her being deservedly awarded second place. To mark this special anniversary, the competitors were honoured with Prince Charles’ presence, as he awarded the prizes to winners and extolled the merits of the competition.
Well done to Jemima for her superb achievement.
