We value our staff highly. All of our nursery staff are carefully selected to create a team of enthusiastic, warm and highly focused early years educators to provide the best possible start to education on the Isle of Man for you and your family. The same nursery staff work all year round to ensure continuity of care and that the highest standards are maintained.
At The Buchan Nursery we believe in hands-on leadership. The Head of Nursery is fully involved in the day-to-day running and management of the nursery and along with input from the Buchan and King William’s College Senior Leadership Team, we pride ourselves on offering high standards in childcare.
Caroline is a Buchan and King William's College alumni. She has over 15 years teaching experience and 12 years in education management. Caroline completed a BA (Hons) in Education and Psychology before gaining a postgraduate diploma in Montessori Early Childhood and later in Play Therapy. Caroline joins us from running successful nursery schools in central London before returning to live in the south of the Island with her husband and two small children.
Emily is an experienced teacher, having taught at The Buchan Nursery before travelling the world last year. She has a BA (Hons) in Teaching and Child Development and is also our very own qualified children’s yoga instructor.
Emily will be continuing her studies over the coming year to gain her EYTS (Qualified Early Year Teacher Status) whilst working with us.
Emily ensures that all her key children deserve the best possible education and development opportunities and she works hard to create a calm environment for each child to ‘be amazing’.
Emily has been working as an Early Years teacher across the Island before joining us at The Buchan Nursery. She is very active in the Isle of Man Young Farmers and is our lead in our Outdoor Learning provisions and Buchan Rangers.
Emily loves to enable children to learn through play (especially messy play) and she focuses on providing active and adventurous outdoor learning; finding ways for all children to reach their early learning goals.
Lynn is absolutely thrilled to be part of this wonderful journey with The Buchan School. She is excited to contribute to our exciting new nursery school where children can learn, develop and flourish. As a previous nursery and pre-school owner, Lynn has over 14 years experience and knowledge after building and developing a brand-new child-care business into a thriving hub for the community. She is able to create a positive learning environment for all children to achieve their full potential.
Kiera was born in South Africa and has lived in Scotland, England and France where she helped to bring up her younger brother.
She gained her childcare qualifications here on the Isle of Man and has previous experience of working with both the toddlers and pre-school children.
Kiera works part time in The Buchan Nursery and at other times can be found with her dog swimming in the sea.
Hannah has been part of The Buchan School family for the past three years and joins us in the nursery from the Pre-Prep Department. She has a Level 5 in Early Years childcare studies and has experience working with children from birth upwards. Hannah works supporting those with additional needs and barriers to learning. She is based primarily in The Buchan School but will also spend time in the nursery to support transition.
Hannah has danced on the Gaiety Theatre stage and loves being outdoors. She is also a key member of our wraparound and holiday care provision.
Kate is a qualified Primary teacher, having taught in reception classes across the Island since 2012. She joined the Buchan Pre-Prep Department in 2017 and we are lucky enough to have her join us as our school readiness co-ordinator. Kate will be on hand to do small group and individual activities with the Sunflower classes enabling them to build on all the necessary skills needed for Pre-Prep or reception. With her varied teaching experience she will able to bring out the best in the children in an engaging, supportive and structured setting. Kate has The Buchan School in her family with 2 children at the school and an ex Buchan Headmaster as her father in law.
Francesca has been working in Early Years for the past 5 years having done her training here on the Isle of Man. She has worked her way up from an apprentice to acting Deputy and Pre-School Leader in a busy nursery school in Douglas.
She joins us at The Buchan Nursery as one of our Seedlings teachers. Francesca is excited to be a member of our new nursery.
Becky qualified with Early Years qualifications from the Isle of Man College in 2012. She has worked at both The Buchan Nursery and The Buchan School for the past four years.
In 2018 Becky became SENCO at The Buchan Nursery, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the nursery’s SEN policy. Becky has seen lots of children through the doors and provides a good connection between the nursery and the school. She is based primarily in The Buchan School but will also spend time in the nursery to support transition. Becky thoroughly enjoys doing crafts, getting messy and being creative.
