Eight eager pupils took part in the piano masterclass this morning run by Naomi Kayayan. Naomi is currently Head of Keyboard at Wycombe Abbey International School in China, prior to which she was on the teaching staff at Junior RNCM. Our thanks go to Mr Daykin who organised the class on behalf of the school.
She spoke about making sure that the piano stool is always in the correct place and that your bottom is at the front and that your feet are always firmly planted on the floor.
She talked about pedalling and that putting the right pedal on gives a ‘Bloom’ to the notes adding an extra colour to the notes and keeping the rhythm to the pulse.
The group were extremely lucky and felt that they had made a lot of progress in a very short time.
The children listening contributed to the session by singing and keeping the pulse.
We all really enjoyed the sessions and learnt so much.
