The Buchan School provides the finest independent education in an idyllic and tranquil setting. Our vision statement, 'Aim for excellence in all things', forms the basis to all of the teaching and learning at The Buchan School.
Founded by Laura Lady Buchan, in 1875, the School has developed an excellent reputation for academic excellence and achievement in sport and the performing arts. It is located in the historic Castletown area of the Isle of Man, with its ancient castle and picturesque harbour setting. The main school reception is located in a Georgian house within 13.5 acres of private grounds.
Pupils are admitted to The Buchan Nursery from two years of age and leave the Prep School at 11 years. The School consists of three main parts; the Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep Departments. The curriculum offered is broad, with a particular emphasis on excellence and enjoyment. In addition to the main core areas, the School offers specialist teaching and facilities for Drama, Music, Languages, Art, Design and Technology, ICT and Sport. A team of peripatetic staff offer a range of instrumental teaching. An extra curricular programme offers pupils further opportunities to develop different interests and skills.
They learn, they have fun, they always want to go back. children love this school.
