King William's College and The Buchan School, in partnership with Castletown Golf Links, offers an exciting Golf Academy for its students.
The Academy has two programmes – 'Youth Development' is designed for youngsters aged between seven and 16, as an introduction to golf, while the 'Elite' class is designed for young golfers who already have a handicap.
In addition to its main programmes, Golf Scholarships are available for pupils entering the school in Lower Fourth (Year 7) at King William's College. The Golf Awards are up to the value of 10% of the tuition fee, and those holding a Golf Award will join the Academy's Elite programme.
King William's College and The Buchan School parents, pupils and alumni will also benefit from a 10% discount on their annual membership subscription at Castletown Golf Links.
The classic links course, which dates back to 1892, is situated on the Langness Peninsula and is widely regarded as one of the best – and most picturesque – in the British Isles. It provides the perfect opportunity for youngsters of all abilities to develop their golfing skills, in tandem with studying at King William's College and The Buchan School.
Academy Coach Dave Adams is the Lead Professional at Castletown Golf Links. He said: "We are extremely excited for the opportunity to partner with King William's College and The Buchan School. Golf offers pupils a fantastic opportunity to get active outside in the fresh air, whilst developing balance and coordination physically and helping to nurture character and sportsmanship, which are all at the absolute core of the game.
"At Castletown pupils will only have to travel a couple of hundred metres from School to enjoy a course that is rated amongst the best in the British Isles. We have designed programmes to help the young golfers develop, whether they are complete beginners or experienced players, and in addition to the outdoor facilities, we can't wait to get the student's trialling our new indoor practice facility, offering the latest technology to allow for fun interactive coaching year round."
The Youth Development and Elite programmes have been designed to cater for specific ability levels within each programme, covering all aspects of the sport, with fun games and exercises used to help each golfer progress.
King William's College Principal Joss Buchanan said: 'Working alongside Castletown Golf Links, our Golf Academy offers exceptional practice facilities and programmes for beginners and advanced golfers, ensuring it is at the forefront of school golf. Castletown is a superb course and I have no doubt that under the expert guidance of Dave Adams, our young golfers will thrive, whatever their ability level.'
