Form 1 All Star Concert

The Form 1 pupils were in fine voice and their instrumental playing was excellent. What a talented group.
The girls who are singing in the Guild sang 'Singing in the bath' a lovely funny song composed by Lin Marsh. Winston followed this with 'Canaries' which he played on the piano. Isaac K sang 'Spin wheel spin' in Manx! The boys had fun singing 'The Lighthouse' together and despite muddling up the words they sang very well. Grenya delighted us with her harp solo 'Jolly Peasant'.

The girls in the girls' choir sang one of their songs called 'Firefly' and they all remembered their actions. Georgina, Alicia and Emilie did a dance that they had planned out for themselves which was amazing! Alicia sang 'Ushag Veg Ruy' (Little Red Bird) which is a Manx traditional song all about a bird who has a really bad nights sleep on briars and twigs and so on. Not to be outdone the boys who are in the boys' choir sang 'Mind the gap' and despite singing not only their own top part but the bottom part as well they did very well.

Emily A played a piano piece called 'Big Ben' and kept the pedal down so the piano sounded like the real thing. Elsa played 'Twinkle, twinkle' in a very jolly cheery way which we all enjoyed. Amelie G played the well know piece 'Supercalifragilistic' on the piano. Flynt played 'B I N G O' which is also very well know. Amira sang 'The Fox' and Oscar played 'Flying Arms In and Out' on the piano. Alexander G performed some of his 'Tango' dance steps and we were all very proud of him for his short demonstration.

Erica delighted us by playing 'Hot Cross Buns' on the violin after only a couple of lessons and then along with a group of girls came out to sing 'Rainbow Connection'. Zara played 'The Dance of the Irish'. It definitely had that Celtic feel to it. Kye played 'A Funny Sunny Day'.

Aristea played what I believe to be one of her favourite tunes 'Do you want to build a snowman' and with Alexander accompanying her on the piano she sang 'Castle on a cloud'. Milo played 'Ballad' on the piano followed by Alexander who played 'Charlotte in Spring' on the harp. Aristea took over from him and played a little Manx song. Amira played 'Hill and Gully Rider' on the piano followed by Alexander playing 'Clowns'.

The final item was by Ollie who played 'Boogie Woogie' on the piano. Miss Cain showed us a few dance steps and all the Form 1's got up and joined in with the dance to Ollie's wonderful playing.

The Form 1 children certainly performed well and we are all very excited to see and hear their progress next year as they certainly have come a long way since their performances in Pre Prep. Well done!
