The Buchan School has developed an excellent reputation for academic excellence and achievement in Sport and the Performing Arts.
The School consists of three main parts, the Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep Departments. The curriculum offered is broad, with a particular emphasis on excellence and enjoyment. In addition to the main core areas, the School offers specialist teaching and facilities for Drama, Music, Languages, Art, Design and Technology, ICT and Sport.

The importance of sport at the Buchan is evidenced by the fact that pupils are given weekly P.E. time which is far in excess of normal National Curriculum recommendations.
The Buchan Music Department is a busy and thriving department that is renowned on the Isle of Man.

Each topic of Art or Design taught begins with an academic history and theory of art module, followed by a practical topic based scheme.
Drama is a fun, exciting and important part of the Buchan curriculum.
There are numerous opportunities for extension in the Creative Arts particularly in Buchan Badge time.
Our aim is to take every opportunity to enhance the learning of our pupils of all abilities in the classroom and outside it. This is at the core of our programmes for enrichment.
The Buchan aims to give pupils every opportunity to reach their full potential and resources are targeted to those who have specific difficulties. The Head of Learning Support works in liaison with all of the teachers to identify children with specific difficulties, which may need short or longer term intervention.
The Buchan Badge has been running since 1996 and has historically been completed by pupils in Form 4. However for more than seven years now the programme has been enjoyed by every child in the Prep School. It aims to encourage all our pupils to become well rounded individuals.
