The Form 3 and 4 members of the 'Chamber Choir' traveled to Abbotswood Residential Home on Wednesday afternoon to entertain the residents. They received a warm reception. The concert was based around an autumnal feel and included songs about peace and remembrance. Our concert programme included hymns which the residents could join in with. The hymns included 'Morning Has Broken', 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' and 'We Plough the Fields and Scatter'.
The children sang 'Look at the World', 'Thank You for the Harvest' and 'We're So Thankful' which they sang for the Harvest Festival this year. The children also sang 'Wear a Poppy' and 'We Will Remember' to think about those men and women who give up their lives so we can live in peace. The concert concluded with the choir singing 'Peaceful World' which they sang on 'World Peace Day'.
Our soloists played and sang well. Jared played a piece on the piano, Sam sang an appropriate piece for this week's weather called 'Windy Weather'. Arwen played the clarinet, Emily, Freyja, Celize and Archie sang solos. Freyja played 'Wouldn't it be Loverly' on the Flute and Celize played a piece called 'Marching. Celize also played an unaccompanied piece on the recorder as well as playing her recorders with the song 'Look at the World'. Mr Daykin accompanied most of the pieces.
The audience was very appreciative. Some of the choir members enjoyed having some refreshments and they mingled with the audience. They acquitted themselves well. Leanne congratulated them. We look forward to entertaining them next year.
