Planned Giving and Bequests
Like many great schools, King William's College and the Buchan School have benefitted from the generosity of past benefactors. Gifts in recent times have provided much needed educational equipement, as well as assistance with bursaries.
Including King William’s College and The Buchan School in your will is one of the greatest gifts that you can give. Whatever the size of your legacy you will be ensuring that the School can look to the future with confidence and continue to educate for the modern world.
We hope that all those who leave Buchan or the College do so with a sense of community, and that their experiences here help to shape the next steps in their lives. By making a legacy pledge to support the Foundation in your will you have the opportunity to:
- Demonstrate your belief in what King William's College and The Buchan School stand for and preserve this for future generations.
- Give something back to the school to show gratitude for the start it gave you, or your son or daughter.
- Do more than might be possible in your lifetime.
Our current needs are primarily in investing in teaching and learning facilities, and to expand our bursary provision. However, should you wish to restrict your legacy to something specific however, we will of course honour your wishes.
HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT
There are a number of ways in which you can support King William's College and The Buchan School through a legacy.
You may wish to give a specific sum of money to the Foundation or alternatively leave all or a percentage of the residue of your estate, after other bequests to your family and friends have been made and expenses have been met.
You may wish to give a specific possession such as property, valuables or stocks and shares rather than leaving a monetary donation. In some instances the Foundation may wish to realise the monetary value of this gift and so, if you have other intentions, we advise you to contact us to discuss this.
You may benefit from certain tax efficiencies by leaving a bequest to the Foundation. We recommend that you contact your legal adviser for further information and advice.
If you have already made a will leaving a bequest to the Foundation but have not yet let us know, please get in contact. If you have not yet made a will or wish to alter your existing will to include the Foundation, please contact your legal adviser for advice.
Once you have made or amended your will, we would appreciate that you advise us of your intentions. This has no legal status and will not restrict your freedom to amend your will in the future. An unrestricted gift provides the most flexibility for the Foundation. You may, however, prefer your bequest to be used for a specific purpose. If you wish to discuss your legacy, please contact us.
