There are two boarding houses at the school; Colbourne House for boys and School House for girls. The boarding houses are small but well equipped with modern kitchens, lounges, quiet rooms and games rooms. The bedrooms in both houses are well furnished and many of them have spectacular views of the south of the island.
The living and sleeping accommodation is arranged principally in study-bedrooms for senior pupils with junior pupils sharing dormitories in small groups. Colbourne has a Housemaster and School House has a Housemistress respectively who are responsible for the pastoral welfare of the pupils. He or she is assisted by a number of tutors, both residential and non-residential.

As the College is built on the coast, the beach is close enough for it to be regarded as the ‘front yard’ and it is all too easy to forget the school day whilst walking along the beach to the lighthouse and back or strolling down the promenade to the nearby town of Castletown.
The houses have a proud record of academic, cultural and sporting achievement and the boarders are very proud of this. An open and caring environment is encouraged and boarders can always find an adult for help and advice. The College is known for the rapport that exists between boarders and tutors and visitors quickly grasp that it is a very special school which they would also like to become a part of.

Comments from some of our boarders"Boarding is a great opportunity that King William’s College offers to its students. I had an unforgettable time in School House and memories from time spent here will stay in my heart forever. I made wonderful friends, whom I really value and with whom we had so much fun, taking part in all the activities that boarding life offers. I also enjoyed the international community of the boarding house, because here I got a unique opportunity to meet people from all over the world, subsequently learning a lot of interesting things about their culture and tradition. I really enjoyed taking parts in all the House events such as House Drama, House Shout, House Music and House Sports Competition, which united everyone who was involved. However one of the most impressive things about the boarding house is – House spirit, because we all live here like a big family and are ready to support anyone, who needs it." "My boarding experience at King William's College has certainly been most beneficial to my development as an individual. The structured routine of boarding has not only dedicated time for my academic work but also to extra-curricular activities, such as Drama and the CCF. My most valued aspect of boarding, however, has to be the unique community exclusive to Colbourne House. I feel like I am at home in Colbourne House; here, my friends are like my family. " Daniel Chan from Hong Kong, 17 years of age
"Boarding, I can honestly say, is the best thing that's ever happened to me. My confidence has grown a lot since I started, I have got to meet new people, get to know much more about the cultures of different places thanks to the international students and I have to say that Colbourne House certainly has the best spirit in the community! If someone told me a couple of years ago that I would be trying as head of School House this year, I would have laughed at them and said I couldn't possibly do – but now, I can't think of anything more rewarding to do."
