This year’s GCSE results have given students at King William’s College something to shout about. Of the 58 students who sat the examinations 50% of grades were either A* or A and 89% of grades were at grade C or above.
This is the third best set of results the College has ever seen. Lauren Finch, Harriet Nuttall and Emily Platten all received straight A*s in 10 subjects each and Graihagh Cordwell 10 A*s and 1 A. Overall 11 pupils, a fifth of the entire year, achieved at least 6 A*s.
Harriet Nuttall commented on her results: “I was so relieved when I opened the envelope to find that I had achieved A*s in all my subjects. I worked hard throughout the 2 years and look forward to studying for the IB Diploma in the Sixth Form. I would like to study natural sciences at university eventually”.
Giverny McAndry, who achieved A*s and As in all her 11 subjects, said that she was really happy with her results. She had done lots of revision and was very pleased that she had done so well in the sciences and maths in particular.
Joss Buchanan, Academic Deputy, is delighted with this year's excellent GCSE results: ‘The pupils worked exceptionally hard in the final lead up to the exams and I am delighted that they have done so well. It gives them a firm basis on which to start their IB studies’.
