Happy New Year!  I hope that pupils, parents and staff all had a relaxing holiday and that we’re launching ourselves into another highly successful year.
As you are all aware, the term got off to an unusual start owing to the weather conditions. I think we’ve probably all had enough of the snow and snow stories by now and certainly it was a relief for staff (and quite possibly some pupils too) when we were able to get term underway and settle into writing the internal exams.

This of course means that there is not a great deal happening by way of extra -curricular activity for a week or so and certainly we have to wait until the week after next for the sports fixtures to start. We still eagerly await the postponed final of the Island Girls’ hockey final...........

We have two formal dinners taking place in the Barrovian Hall at the end of this week: Friday evening sees our 6th form Epiphany Dinner – this is the first opportunity for many of them to don ‘black tie’ and is always a most enjoyable and civilised evening. On Saturday evening, KWC is the venue for the Save the Children Fund ‘Festival of Trees’ prize presentation – I hope some of you had time when passing through Ronaldsway airport to admire (and vote for!) our entry in the competition

And finally....it’s a girl! Our warm congratulations go to Matt Crabtree and his wife Marie who welcomed the safe arrival of Holly, a sister for Joshua, on 4 January.
