This week, all College and Buchan pupils have had a chance to see the Excalibur Almaz spacecraft and learn more about the future of space travel. They have been putting their questions to the visiting cosmonauts—one of whom spent a whole year in space!—and getting their autographs.
We have also been welcoming children from the other Island schools—over one and a half thousand will have seen the exhibition before it closes. Not surprisingly, space remains a theme for our teaching and activities: art, photography, creative writing and a non-uniform day this Friday when I am sure we will see plenty of astronauts and aliens.
Turning my attention to the fields rather than the sky, it is great to see what an excellent start our Rugby and hockey teams have made this season. The 1st XV stunned Abbotsholme on Saturday, and on Tuesday the 1st XI achieved a resounding victory over local rivals Castle Rushen High School. In both sports, the teams are coming together really well and have already proven that they are forces to be reckoned with.
